This is an important game for the Chiefs who can feel the chargers breathing down their necks. Casell has quietly put together a great season with 23 TDS and 4 Ints. They have the balance to win this game and +3 is a generous spread. take !

Giants have found their running game recently but lost 2 wr's last week in the game vs the vikings. Steve Smith and Mario Manningham could prove to be costly losses while Eli is not playing at a high level right now. That coupled with shaky special teams and a short week off the monday nighter in Detroit spell trouble for the Gmen.

Recognize this dude? He's the QB of the Colts who has thrown 11 Picks in the last 3 games . The Colts have lost 3 in a row and are in desperation mode. They get to play the Titans who have lost 5 straight games themselves and have not score a TD in it's last 11 quarters. The Colts have lost to good teams and have still been able to score. Although the Boys have shown fight recently, Felix Jones is banged up and they just won't be able to match punches with Kitna under center.

Syndey Rice is finally active, and Percy Harvin had a good full practice Friday. The Vikes are 0-5 on the Road this year but have won their last 3 at Home. +3 Home Dome Dog is good value here

Colts +4 1 star

This game would have more stars but the Colts are still banged up and left 5 players at home including Joseph Addai and Gary Brackett. The Pats defense is still young and Peyton can single handedly keep this game close.

Skins/Titans OVER 44 3 stars

Skins secondary is very banged up. Landry and Rogers both did not make the trip. Bad spot for a team with Randy Moss getting familoiar with the new offense and burner Nate Washngton on the other side. Not to mention home run hitter Chris Johnson.

Clinton Portis returns to try and help the Skins. His biggest contribution should be in pass blocking. Look for the Skins to attack more through the air. This all equals OVER 44 points

Giants +3.5 2 stars

Vick is playing great but the Ginats should be able to harass him much like the Packers did earlier in the season. The Ginats were embarrassed about last week and will play with alot of fire. Make sure you get 3.5 points

The Redskins are coming off a bye week and the media has overdone the Mcnabb benching vs the Lions. The Shanahans both refute reports that they are dissatisfied with Mcnabb's laid back practice routine and ESPN reported today that The Redskins have signed Mcnabb to a five 5yr $78 mil extension. Bottom line here is that all parties at Redskins camp are competitive and want to win that elusive super bowl ring.

On another note, The money is in on the Eagles. Most lines are now Eags -3 (-125 juice). The Redskins have played very close games this year and HALF of those games have been decided by 3. Make sure you use discipline and buy the extra 1/2 point and get this game at +3.5

The Hedgie will continue to focus on the Chargers team which is #1 in Offense in the NFL but still has something amiss. They are 0-4 on the road this year and Antonio Gates is very doubtful with a torn platar fascia in his foot from last week's game vs the Titans. The Texans are 2-2 at home and should be able to get this outright win. Note also that Nate Keading is still out and Chris Brown continues kicking duties for the Chargers. Brown was cut by the Texans in the preseason after being their kicker the past 8 years and also cost the Hedgie a 4 star over play two weeks ago as he 'DOINKd' one of the goalpost with no time left. Hedgie sees good value with an improving Seattle TEam getting a full FG vs a Raiders team that will be led by Jasen Campbell. Seattle has the 2nd best run defense in the league which should put a little extra pressure on Campbell in the passing game. With the addition of Marshawn Lynch the Seattle offense is getting better as well. Seattle has a decisive edge in special teams with Leon Washington so hedgie sees a close game and good value getting +3

All signs here point to a high scoring game. Even this Chargers cheerleader's hair wants to go OVER. The Pats offense is clicking. Brady is spreading the ball around and Deion Branch looks like he never left the Pats. The Pats special teams are scoring too. While the Chargers might be the worst special teams in the NFL.

The Chargers are a bit banged up with Floyd out and Gates banged up...BUT Norv Turner is an offensive genius ..a horrible head coach but still an offensive genius. Phillip Rivers is playing at a high level and the Chargers have scored 38 and 41 points in both their home games. The pats secondary is still young and struggles so expect the Chargers to put up some points. This game could hit 60 ! OVER 47.5 4 stars

the underDOG here. Auburn thrashed Arkansas last week as a 4 pt home favorite and QB Cam Newton put up huge numbers rushing for 188 yards , 3TDS and passing 10-14 with 1 TD. This impressive win looks good to the betting public while LSU did not cover as a 41 pt favorite vs Mcneese St, no doubt looking ahead to this game. The real story here is DEFENSE though. Auburn gave up 566 yards to Arkansas vs a backup QB for 3 quarters. LSU has a stout Defense and will come ready to play. Les Miles team is a LIVE DOG here and getting +6 is worth 3 stars

The Cardinal Offense coudl use BEanie Wells this game and he will probably not play. HE's listed as

questionable and Coach Whisenthunt admitted that on the Dome turf it's unlikely he'll get much time if at all with that tender knee. The Cards had 7 fumbles last week and Hightower is a part of that problem. Derek Anderson played mostly as a backup in preseason and this team is still out of sync. The falcons will bounce back from a tough road game vs Pitt and play well.

Redskins +3 vs Texans 2 stars

Both the Skins and Texans had big wins last week. The Texans beat their nemesis , the Colts, for only the 2nd time in 17 tries. So a letdown is in order. However, you could argue the Skins are in for a letdown as well. The difference here could be Kyle Shanahan who ran the Texans offense for the past 2 years. He will know how to exploit the Texans defense and should have a few wrinkles to get the Skins offense on track. The Texans have not been a good road favorite under Kubiak in the past as well. So the home team getting a full FG is a solid play.

Thursday Night Football

There's been some smack talk in the offseason between these two teams. The Vikes outgained the Saints in last years NFC Champ game but turnovers cost them the W. Farve was beat up in that game. Hedgie expects the Vikes to establish the run and protect Farve who was just 2 weeks ago weeding his farm in Mississippi. Darren Sharper won't be playing for the Saints tonight and Chester Taylor left for Chicago in the offseason. Hedgie sees a pretty tight game here with high emotions and alot of hard hitting. Going to stay away from this one ....but leaning Vikes +5 and Under 48.5 for those who must......

Virginia Tech has only 4 returning defensive starters. This inexperience will be exploited even though it's viewed as a home game for the Hokies and Bud Foster is considered a defensive genius. Tyrod Taylor was one of the most improved Qb's last year and the Hokies get back RB Darren Evans from injury last yr and that 1-2 punch with Ryan Willams will help open up the Hokie offense as well.

There's alot to write here but to keep it short this line should be more like Colts -3. Then Dwight Freeney injury news has not been good. Freeney did not practice Friday. He's the best defender on the Colts and will be limited regardless. Reggie Wayne 'tweaked' his knee Friday as well. This should not be major news however. These games come down to Turnovers and the Saints lead the NFL with 46 this year. The Colts protect the ball well but have not had a tendency to blow teams out. Hedgie certainly could see Peyton Manning leading his team to a game winning FG but in the end this game favors the Saints who will benefit from playing on grass and have a better running team. 5 points is great value

THUNDEROUS DOMES

There is no doubt the home dome crowd will play a role in today's game. Hedgie was shocked the 'mature' Chargers choked so much. Snaps over the head of Rivers and missed FG's by Keating are about as bad as it gets. You have to give the J-E-T-S a lot of credit however. They have a proven method of winning and a certain swagger. Today that will end because of a few variables that are too tough to overcome. Playing in a loud raucous crowd will be very difficult for a rookie QB and Oline. The Jets will have to stick to the run game which they are very good at. This time they face a Colts team that is MUCH BETTER at TACKLING than their past two foes. Expect LB Brackett to have a big day tackling and perhaps pick Sanchez. On the Offensive side Peyton Manning is 4-0 against Rex Ryan defenses when Rex was the coordinator in Baltimore. He's better at any QB in the game at adjusting and taking what the defense gives. Expect a HUGE day from Dallas Clark in the middle of the field. He's currenlty 5-1 at sportsbooks to score the first TD. The line has been creeping back higher with news that Colt's DB powers will not start but backup Lacey has started 9 games this yr and will do just fine vs Sanchez. This game looks to be a low scoring slugfest chess match. The Colts have not blown out teams this year so laying 8+ might be a bit of a reach. Hedgie sides with UNDER 40 in the game. Colts 24 - Jets 13 2 stars

This is Hedgie's favorite game of the Day. The storylines are incredible with Brett Farve & Drew Brees and the paths they both took to get here. Once again the home dome crowd will be an x-factor. New Orleans hasn't been to a superbowl in 43 years. This team led by Drew Brees is the soul of the town. Drees Brees is quotes as saying that when he took the job of QB after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 : "This was my calling" . Dan Pasquerelli ,espn sportswriter, says he takes multiple advils when he covers the games because the noise literally gives him pouding headaches. The Viking are a great home team and thrive on their own Dome crowd but have proven to be vulnerable on the road with only going 1-4 ATS on the road. Another key factor is HEALTH. The vikes come in a tad banged up. DT's Ray Edwards and Kevin Williams are not 100% and going up against an underrated Saints OLine. Also, Percy Harvin is expected to play but don't expect him 100% either. Wouldn't be surprised if the Dome noise alone gives him migraines! The best athlete on the field today is a healthy REGGIE BUSH. He's clearly back to full strength after last weeks performance vs Cards. With a vikes shaky secondary , Drew Brees on a mission and Reggie Bush at full strength Hedgie can't see Saints losing this one. Money is coming in on the vikes so might be able to catch -3 on this game. Either way SAINTS -3.5 3 stars

defense is playing great. the vikes Oline really struggled the last 4 weeks of the season. 3 points is great value here

Chargers -7 2 stars

this is a different chargers team than in years past. they have all been together and are a mature team. they will be well prepared and rivers has been playing at a high level. revis is a great cb but he can't cover jackson, floyd and gates all at once. gates poses a huge problem for the jets. if the jets get down they simply can't rely on a rookie qb to bring them back. money has been coming in on the jets so might be able to catch -6.5 at kickoff

NFL PLAYOFFS

The hedgie needed to clear his head from the past couple weeks and go to a remote island to get back on track. This formula has worked in the past and hedgie expects it work again.

It is impossible however to not feel the nearby pain and suffering in the neighboring country of Haiti. There are many heavy hearts today and aproximately 24 NFL players have ties to Haiti including Colts WR Pierre Garcon, Saints RB Pierre Thomas, Saints LB Johnathan Vilma, Chargers CB Antonio Cromartie, and Cardinals CB Dominique Rogers-Cromartie who will all be playing this weekend. The best way to contribute to the cause by simply text messegng "HAITI' to 90999. A $10 donating will go the Red Cross and a charge will appear on your cell phone bill. Another reputable organization to donate to is Wyclef Jean's Yele.org.

On to pigskin - the hedgie sees alot of inflated TOTALS based on last weeks scores.

In the Saints/Cards game 57.5 is the highest posted Total in the last 20 years for a playoff game. Yes, both offenses are prolific but the hedgie expects to see some defensive adjustments with some bend-don't-break schemes. Pierre Thomas is back for the Saints and he provides the Saints offense with a tougher run oriented mindset which will help chew some clock. Looking back all season if you used 57 as the Total the Cards would have been 2 Over and 15 Under while the Saints 6 Over and 10 Under. The cards defensive unit called a players only defense meeting to focus on better 'Tackling' and fundamentals. With better tackling comes more clock time. Hedgie sees this game with the Saints getting a lead and pounding Thomas to wear down a tired Cards defense in the 4th quarter....

UNDER 57.5 4 stars

The Hedgie loves RAY RAY. Last week he was so prepared he was stealing Tom Bradys play calls and the defense knew exactly where the ball was going. If not for the imposters on the Patriots defense last weeks game would have stayed Under the posted 43.5 As soon as that game was over Ray Ray was studying the Colts on the plane ride home. The Colts and Ravens know each other very well. For the Ravens to win they will need to rely on their run game and Peyton will be forced to dink and dunk in the passing game to earn his points.
