Houston/Cinci UNDER 38.5 1 star TJ Yates starting on the road without Andre Johnson. This game should feature running and Houston's #1 defense will make it more like last week's game
Saints -3 (-120) 2 stars the popular pick here is the titans. CJ is running well agains for the Titans and the Saints have been a fade on the road on grass. Hedgie doesn't buy it and finds -3 good value. Brees and Co should put up close to 30 here
(CJ is getting it goin lately but the Saints D has improved quietly and Brees & Co still ave 25 its per game on the road)
Falcons -2.5 2 stars - Panthers also a public pick here as the falcons have not looked good lately and Cam Newton been putting up numbers. But the Falcons strength is the Panthers weakness and the should be able to establish the run here and get the W

Hedgie back on track?
The Dolphins will be without starting Kicker Dan Carpenter this sunday vs the Bills as he injured his groin in practice Friday. Shayne Graham was quickly signed to replace him and although he's had success in the past Graham has been cut this yr by the Skins and the Cowboys. The Bills and Dolphins usually play tight games and the kicking game here could be the difference. money has come in on the Dolphins riding a 2 game win streak and with the Bills getting spanked in Dallas last week we get some great value here; BILLS +3 4 stars
Packers/Bucs OVER 48.5 3 stars - no one hotter than Aaron Rogers right now. After dropping 45 on the Vikes last week the Packers face a softer secondary with the Bucs.

Rams/Seahawks UNDER 39.5 2 stars - Both O-LInes are decimated with injuries. The Seahawks have success pounding Marshawn Lynch while the Rams Do the same with Steve Jackson. When the rams run the ball 30 or more times they've had 2 wins and an OT loss to the cards. Expect a lot of hard nose downhill running in this divisional rivalry with a lot of clock being chewed up...

Hedge's first 5 star play of the year is TODAY
Yes, that's Denard Robinson and he's holding out all four fingers and his thumb which equals FIVE as in STARS today....Hedgie faded Nebraska last week and escaped with a push as Penn St came out flat on it's last home game and senior day. Now Nebraska takes to the road again and must play a Michigan team that is coming off an impressive win last week vs Illinois 31-17. Unlike Penn St Michigan has offense. Nebraska will not be able to just run the ball with Martinez and Birkhead. This game should be similar to last week. Michigan wins by 2 TD's ...let's call it 31-17

Hedgie will also be fading Penn State today. They have ZERO Offense and now must travel to Ohio St with the scandal still a distraction. Ohio State -6.5 3 stars
USC +15 @ Oregon 2 stars - hedgie missed a play on Wash +16.5 vs the Ducks a few weeks back (Oregon 34- Wash 17) but this play is on a stronger team with the better Qb in Matt Barkley. They will put up points and hang with the ducks.

Falcs love to pound the rock with Michael Turner and go vs the Colst who are 31st vs run allowing 144 yrs per game. Also getting back Julio Jones should help. Falcs by 14
Saints/Bucs OVER 50.5 2 stars Saints look to bounce back and get revenge vs Bucs. At Home the offense seems to click. In their 3 games they've dropped 30 on the Bears, 40 on the Texans and 62 on the Colts. Hedgie leaning saints cover as well but will stick with OVER 51.5
Texans/Browns OVER 41 2 stars Hedgie thinks their is still value with the Texans total lines being lower than normal. Last week Gabbert got hurt early which disrupted the Jags offense and this week the Browns without Hillis should actually lend to McCoy throwing more for the Browns. Mid to High 40's....

UCF travels west to Provo , Utah to face teh BYU Cougars as both teams try to shake off tough losses from a week ago. Hedgie thinks there's a slight misperception about the current form of Butler. They are known for great defense (especially last year) but right now Mack and Howard are shooting 57% from FG's during the tourney and Mack 41% from 3pts. Combine this with great FT shooting and Uconn's ability to create their own shots and Hedgie thinks this game has been adjusted too low by the bookmakers.

This is Klay Thompson. He cost Wash St an at large bid for the big dance when he got suspended for marijauna . He led the PAC 10 in points per game with 22.0 . Last game vs Northwestern he play 43 minutes, had 17 pts, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. SUPER BOWL XLV - "THE BIG LEGURSKY"

The Hedgie always tries to dig for value and tries to find the intangibles that might make the difference or get overlooked.

The Hedgie always tries to dig for value and tries to find the intangibles that might make the difference or get overlooked. This particular super bowl is a great matchup on paper. Two great QB's and two great defenses. The hot team with the public right now is the Green Bay Packers and for noticable reasons. Aaron Rogers has been playing lights out and got a great win in the Georgia Dome vs the Falcons. This team is built for turf and the general perception here is that the Packers will spread out the Steelers defense with 4 and 5 WR's sets and attack through the air on their way to victory.
Another big topic is Maurkice Pouncey. His high ankle sprain vs the Jets will most likely keep him out of the Super Bowl. This is a big concern as he started all 16 games. BUT the Hedgie has a different angle here . Maurkice Pouncey is good and will be missed . But not as much as the HEDGIE thinks. his backup , Doug Legursky, is good too. He's started 4 games at guard this season for the Steelers and has seen plenty of action He's played center at Marshall University where he hold 2 weight lifting records for the squat (705 lbs) and the hang clean (430lbs). With an extra week to prepare and get in sync the Hedgie thinks the Steelers line will be just fine and might actually be better off with their run offense.
The Steelers are well coached and have EXPERIENCE on these side as well. They know the Packers will most likely spread it out and their best way to counter that is with a strong running game keeping Rogers off the field. Look for a big role from Mendenhall in this game as well.
The Vegas line is of importance here too. Hedgie has always been a value player and there is no doubt that Vegas set this line early with the Packers favored by -2.5 knowing that the public would be on the Packers. The money has continuously come in on Green Bay pushing the line to -3 and the over/under to 45. The value here definitely lies with the Steelers and +3.
Looking back at the past 7 Super Bowls 3 have been decided by 3 points while 5 have gone Under the posted total.

Last time these 2 teams met Troy Palamalu was not on the field and the Jets won 22-17. The Jets won an emotional game last week vs New England and will now be playing it's 5th road game in the past 6 weeks.
The Steelers are well rested and although Palamalu looked a bit rusty last week he practiced this Friday and will be ready to go. The Steelers at home with a balance attack will pull away and win by double digits in the end

The Hedgie thinks the stars of this game will come on defense. Green Bay has won 4 straight games holding their opponents to and average of 14.2 ppg and is the #2 ranked defense. Chicago is the #4 ranked defense and allows 15.0 ppg. The line seems a bit inflated based on last week's final scores. Chicago let some late cupcake scores by Seattle while Aaron Rogers had a lights out performance in the comfort of a DOME. These teams played twice this year and both contests
stayed up the total (37 & 13 pts) .

This pic sums it all up. Steelers and Ravens do not like each other. In week 4 Ravens won 17-14 then Pitt repaid the favor in a 13-10 win. Hedgie leans UNDER 37.5 here also but figures best value is Ravens +3.5 in a tight slugfest..3 stars

NCAA Championship
After a 1-3 wildcard weekend the hedgie is going to pass on tonight .....originally leaning oregon +3 and OVER...the money is now coming in on Oregon and the UNDER....a few tidbits :
- auburn has covered 6 of it's last 7 games
- oregon is 1-2-1 it's last 4 games vs spread
- auburn is 8-5 OVER for the season
- Oregon is 8-4 OVER foir the season
- Oregon is in it's first Underdog spot of the year

HAPPY NEW YEAR
Penn State +7 3 starsUrban Meyer is the one retiring here and the seniors at Florida are sure to play hard. But this game is about X's and O's and Joe Pa will have his team ready. Florida has a couple injuries on defense and this line looks a tad inflated based n the perception that Florida will be more motovated to send coach meyer off in style....
